Businesses secure their progression in the Surat Basin

Australian businesses are starting to feel the pinch from a global shrinking economy, however in Dalby Queensland businesses are strategically progressing their business into the supply chain dynamics of the Surat Basin energy province.
A unique conference event to be held at the Dalby Showground, Queensland on August 19 to 21 is offering participating businesses access to the region’s major energy projects including the timeframes, the project decision makers and their contractors, as well as an opportunity to attend tailored workshops on the essential project operating requirements.
Sarah Grant, General Manager of the Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry says that the call for interest from delegates and exhibitor sites has been overwhelming, with a large percentage of local businesses taking up tailored exhibition sites to showcase their products and services to other contractors and project managers.
“We knew that this initiative of the Surat Basin Corporation was going to be effective for regional businesses and we are delighted that all sorts of businesses are taking up the opportunities to capitalise on this massive regional development.”
“Local businesses are already realising that an additional 1000 jobs to the region creates another 4000 and this flow-on affects every business in the Surat Basin region,” says Sarah.
Sarah confirms that employment agencies, accountancy and legal firms to equipment and car hire companies, real estate agencies and building designers to rigging, drilling, environmental consultants and sign writers are all taking up opportunities to attend and exhibit.
“Even child care centres and private regional schools are attending to ensure that they understand the timeframes to this sustainable and intense regional development,” offers Sarah.
“The details presented at this conference will be pivotal in the formation of any attending business’s progression plans for the coming years.  It comes down to positioning a business into the supply chain, providing products and services to the projects, contractors, sub-contractors or employees and their families,” says Sarah.
With more than 700 delegates and over 120 exhibitors the conference is attracting a vast array of businesses ready to absorb the benefits of this region’s economic prosperity and liveability.
“There are only a handful of exhibitor sites still left, local businesses are now being encouraged to participate as a delegate to progress their business into the supply chain.  Business details of all participating delegates will be published in a conference specific directory and will be available free at the conference and for sale following,” confirms Sarah.
Conference Delegates will enjoy an extensive three day program that includes a networking golf afternoon, guided regional bus tours, major project and business skilling presentations, a cocktail party at the historic Jimbour House, workshops covering an assortment of operating requirements and training, an ‘Outback Extravaganza’ conference dinner, and a large trade exhibition area.
