The Surat Basin is a region renowned for a rich agricultural economic heritage and now this dynamic and scenic neighbourhood has the world’s attention as a long term major energy producer.
With new diversity provides an explosion of opportunity and the Surat Basin Corporation are setting the stage for a unique conference and expo event.
The Surat Basin Corporation is a partnership of government, business and community organisations for the purpose of promoting sustainable development in the Surat Basin province.
According to Richard Krause, Chief Executive Officer, the Surat Basin Conference 2009 will provide business delegates with the details to make the most of these expanding opportunities.
“Delegates to the conference will have exclusive access to the timeframes, the contacts and the business requirements for establishing supply contracts with any of these major regional energy projects,” says Mr Krause.
“What is unique about this national event is that the major energy players will be all in the one place at the one time to discuss this region’s projects. Businesses will be provided with key information on operating requirements, quality management, workplace health and safety, the benefits of alliances, training and carbon trading.”
Local businessman Roland Soutar of Dalby Security Patrols says that his engagement by already two of these major projects came about by being in the right place at the right time and resulted in a huge learning curve.
“We were a small business with 20 years experience and more than 50 clients, however when we were approached by a major energy project to submit a tender for ongoing security work we had to up-skill ourselves and drastically increase a trained workforce immediately,” says Roland.
“Fortunately for us we had great local business networks that assisted with training, tender preparation and genuine confidence building to push forward with a winning tender. Now we have moved out of our home office and into a main street shop front with increased products and services.”
Roland says that he will be attending the conference to gain an important edge on other contracts and reinforce his company as a leading regional supplier of security services.
The Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. have been asked by the corporation to host this progressive national event at the Dalby Showgrounds on August 19, 20 and 21.
